When building a front fence, there can be a lot of confusion around what shire approval is required for your wall.
At Slick Brick we have connections with Draftsmen, Engineers and building surveyors that can help to prepare and submit your council approval on your behalf.
Here is a bit of information to get you started and a link to detailed information to help you understand the process.
Each shire does have slightly different sets of rules, but as general rule of thumb...
Only a building permit needed if:
- The pier height is no higher than 1.8m
- The solid lower infill height is no higher than 1.2m
- The upper infill height must be 50% visibility (i.e aluminium slats, breeze block etc)
- Truncation where driveway meets footpath
No permit or planning permission required if:
- the non retaining wall is lower than 750mm
- The retaining wall is lower than 500mm
Planning permission (DA or Development Approval) required if:
- Your plan goes outside the above criteria, this involves more time and extra permissions to be granted by the council
